Viñales Racing Team gets official support from Yamaha in WorldSSP300
The all-new Viñales Racing Team will have the benefits of being supported officially by Yamaha Motor Europe in 2021.
The FIM Supersport 300 World Championship sees a new team enter in 2021 with the Viñales Racing Team, fielding 2019 race winner Kevin Sabatucci and rookie Dean Berta Vinales. However, the team will enjoy the support as an official Yamaha-supported team. The outfit was created by Angel Viñales, the father of MotoGP™ star Maverick and shares one of Yamaha’s core values in supporting young stars in reaching the pinnacle of motorcycle racing in the early steps.
21-year-old Sabatucci knows what it takes to run at the front of the World Supersport 300 class, having taken a career-first podium in his first ever race at Imola in 2018, before snatching a race win in a dramatic Donington Park event a year later. For Dean Berta Viñales, he’s been a regular in the European Talent Cup, with a best result of 13th so far last year. He will be just 16 when WorldSSP300 kicks off.
Speaking about the upcoming season, Angel Viñales said: “Getting Yamaha support means everything for me and the team. It’s our first year in the WorldSBK paddock and to be handed this opportunity is more than a dream come true, we are really happy and excited for that. This comes while Maverick is also entering his fifth season as a Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team Rider, so it’s amazing for us. Thanks to the Yamaha family for putting their trust in us.”
